Acapulco to host the World Congress of Poets

• Its purpose is to promote world’s brotherhood and peace, as well as cultural exchanges; it will take place from the 12th to the 16th of October in the Port of Acapulco.

World Congress of PoetsThe World’s Academy of Arts and Culture, WAAC, invites all the world’s vates and people interested in this gender to participate in the XXVIII World Congress of Poets, from October 12 to 16 in Acapulco, Guerrero.

Within the frame of such event, lectures and book presentations will also take place under the theme: "Poetry in the Intimacy of the Soul".

The first World Congress of Poets (WCP) was held on 1969 by Amado Yuzón, Tin-Wen Cheng, Krishna Srinivas and Lou Lu Tour, aiming at uniting nations in the search of peace through poetry.

In 1973 it was founded under the auspices of the World’s Academy of Arts and Culture, WAAC, and the support of UNESCO.

One of the purposes of the Academy is to organize poet encounters throughout the planet in order to promote world peace and brotherhood, as well as to strengthen cultural exchange for mutual understanding among peoples of different cultures, in order to elevate mankind to excellence through poetry and literature.

This edition will be presided by María Eugenia Soberanis Nogueda, Ernesto Kahan, Nobel Peace Prize 1986; Marily A. Reyes, President of the The Cove/Rincón Internacional; and Patricia Garza Soberanis, delegate of the The Cove/Rincón Internacional for Mexico.

World Congress of PoetsBesides the poetry lectures and books’ presentations, essays by Germain Droogenbroodt (Belgium), Ernesto Kahan (Argentine-Israeli) and Milan Richter (Slovakia), Celia Vázquez (Spain), Iván Portela (Cuban-Mexican) and professor Isaías Alanis (Mexico).

The organism: The Cove/Rincón Internacional summoned to an itinerant arts exhibit with the theme name “Visual Poetry”, launched last June in Córdoba, Argentine; in August it was held in Miami and it will top-off with the inauguration of the congress in Acapulco.

Painting, photography and sculpture from artists of different origins will be on display from the 12th to the 15th of October and works that participated in the three-country exhibit will participate in the contest for the first and second places, to appear on the Anthology of the Congress’ front and back covers.
